Frequently ask questions on Pure Tumescent Liposuction
Q. What is Pure Tumescent Liposuction?
A. Pure Tumescent Liposuction is a method of removing unwanted and cosmetically objectionable fat by first plumping it with a special anesthetic solution that also limits potential bleeding. In there words Liposuction surgery is a cosmetic surgery to remove unwanted objectionable fats through Liposuction plastic surgery. Liposuction cosmetic surgery technique has existed for more than 10 years but has been surprisingly slow to be universally accepted. It remains the current treatment of choice for liposuction by dermatologic surgeons, and has not been overshadowed by the more costly and much riskier technique of Ultrasonic Liposuction. Liposuction is a kind of plastic surgery performed by most of the plastic surgeons.

Tumescent liposuction technique has eliminated the marked bleeding which accompanies traditional liposuction method, and has eliminated any real need for general anaesthesia, while allowing the safe and comfortable removal of large quantities of fat from a given patient.
Q. Where will the Pure Tumescent Liposuction be performed?
A. The liposuction plastic surgery will be performed in our specially equipped Office Surgical Suite. This way a more relax atmosphere can be created. Furthermore, savings of £1000 or more may be realized by not using the more costly hospital setting.
Q. What type of Anaesthesia is used for Pure Tumescent Liposuction?
A. Pure Tumescent Liposuction requires only local anaesthesia. The Tumescent Solution that is injected to firm up the tissues is made up of a weak solution of Lidocaine anaesthetic and a weak Adrenaline solution. This combination will totally numb the area of treatment like face, neck through facial liposuction & neck liposuction, as well as virtually prevent bleeding. It will result in almost painless fat removal. For patients who require relief from fear or anxiety, mild sedation can be provided.
Q. Who is a Candidate for Pure Tumescent Liposuction?
A. Pure Tumescent Liposuction is a local anaesthetic technique for removing or recontouring body fat which is poorly distributed. Pure Tumescent Liposuction in specific, and Liposuction in general are not designed for massive fat removal or weight loss, and thus the best candidate are men or women who are well-toned and near ideal body weight with resistant fat pockets, or who has had a problem shedding some of the fat re-distribution associated with pregnancies. Pure Tumescent Liposuction can also be used for patients who far exceed ideal body weight, but the results tend to be less dramatic, although it may be very helpful to improve the fit of clothing in problem areas, such as the hips.
Q. What should I Wear the day of Liposuction Surgery?
A. Simple clothing that opens in the front or pulls over easily, and loose pants are best for patients who are undergoing Pure Tumescent Liposuction plastic surgery. Because a large volume of Tumescent Solution is injected into the tissues at the time of surgery, there is often substantial leakage of pink tinged clear fluid for about 18 hours after the surgery. Loose clothing will facilitate getting dressed over a form-fitting girdle and light dressings.
Q. What should I do to prepare for Pure Tumescent Liposuction Surgery?
A. As with liposuction surgery, it is important to avoid drugs that promote bleeding, including Aspirin, Ibuprofen, and any arthritis pain medication for one week before surgery. Vitamin E should be stopped for at least 3-4 weeks, since it interferes with Vitamin K function to produce clotting factors in the liver. A good hot shower with your choice of soap is important the morning of surgery as is avoiding any body hair maintenance, such as shaving or waxing the surgical areas to avoid ingrown hair. You should arrive for facial liposuction or neck liposuction or liposuction plastic surgery with an empty stomach, but may take important morning medications with a sip of water. Ask us if you have any questions in that regard. Everyone knows that smoking and alcohol disrupts wound healing, blood clotting and causes increased pain post-operatively. Therefore, patients should stop smoking (for several weeks!) and drinking alcohol (for one day) before any surgery.
Q. What should I expect after Pure Tumescent Liposuction Surgery?
A. Pure Tumescent Liposuction, in capable hands will greatly limit blood loss, thus limiting post-op bruising, swelling, and most importantly, pain. Since very little blood is spilled, little is left behind in the tissues, and thus there is minimal inflammatory response, and minimal stimulus to inflammatory fluid build-up in the tissues which would manifest as prolonged swelling. Many patients who have had Tumescent Liposuction to refine results of traditional general anaesthesia Liposuction, report markedly lower post-surgery discomfort, and much more rapid return to normal lifestyle. You must limit your activity for at least a day after liposuction surgery, and should drink extra liquids. Be careful to eat light food at first, if sedation has been used, to avoid stomach upset. Some drainage of 'tumescent fluid' from the access stab incisions is completely normal in the first 18 hours, and ends by the following day. Simple dressings using feminine pads to catch drainage is an effective way to deal with this minor inconvenience. Patient should shower on the second day after the operation. The compression garment should be washed and dried before putting it on again. Gentle exercise like walking and stretching should be done daily but heavy exercise should be avoided until the second week after the operation.

Q. How long is the recovery period after Pure Tumescent Liposuction?
A. Patients wear a comfortable compression girdle for about 2-3 weeks and can return to light activities and work 2-3 days after the surgery. However, aerobic or heavier exercises should be avoided for about 2 -3 weeks after the operation to prevent persistence of swelling.
Q. Is Pure Tumescent Liposuction a safe weight loss alternative?
A. Pure Tumescent Liposuction, is not, and never has been intended as a primary weight loss technique, although it is a

successful adjunct to weight loss in individuals who are nearing their ideal body weight via sensible diet and exercise. It is best to carry out Pure Tumescent Liposuction when you are closer to your target weight, since at higher weights, areas of predictable excess can be identified, but there is no way to predict how much of the excess is genetically determined and persistent, versus how much is due to simple excess weight, and thus reversible. Some doctors have recently decided to extend the bounds of safe Pure Tumescent Liposuction by expanding its use to try to remove large volumes of fat, and thus weight from very obese individuals, often employing the much-hyped Ultrasonic Liposuction method. It would be difficult to consider this use of Liposuction as either safe or prudent, as there have been some severe complications, and even deaths in obese individuals undergoing this surgery, despite some excellent results as well.
Q. Can Tumescent Liposuction be performed in Overweight Individuals?
A. Pure Tumescent Liposuction can be used in patients who are significantly overweight, but it can only remove fat which is outside of the abdominal cavity, and can only be safely used to improve the shape of an overweight patient at their present weight, We do not consider Pure Tumescent Liposuction, or any Liposuction technique to be a safe alternative or substitute for disciplined weight loss.
Q. How Much Weight will I lose after Tumescent Liposuction?
A. Tumescent Liposuction is designed to solve contour problems and not lead to actual weight loss. The volume of fat is large compared to its weight and thus the amount of weight change, is relatively small despite major changes in the contours.
Q. Will Pure Tumescent Liposuction cure cellulite?
A. Tumescent Liposuction is not designed to address the skin deformity known popularly as "Cellulite". Cellulite is caused by the very superficial compartmentalization of fat into small superficial pockets caused by a peculiarity of fat distribution which is associated with many firm fibrous bands running from the most superficial fibrous structural fascia, a few millimetres beneath the skin, to the underside of the skin, causing the typical pebbled look of the skin which is plumped by the superficial fat between these fibrous bands. Tumescent Liposuction will not relieve these bands, and thus has little impact on Cellulite. Cellulite should instead be treated with Endermologie, which can be combined and performed 6 weeks after the Liposuction surgery.
Q. What are the risks of Pure Tumescent Liposuction?
A. Pure Tumescent Liposuction surgery is among the safest of surgeries if it is carried out by a competent trained doctor. Pure Tumescent Liposuction surgery is a procedure which is based mainly on artistic skill, but must be tempered by the ability of the doctor to understand and manage cardiovascular aspects of the fluid load imposed by the injection of large volumes of Tumescent Solution. Some rare risks of Tumescent Liposuction include: bleeding, infection, scarring, asymmetry, injury to nerves or blood vessels, persistent blood or serum accumulation and contour irregularities. Tumescent Liposuction is nothing but and liposuction plastic surgery perform by most of the plastic surgeons.
Q. What is the Cost of Pure Tumescent Liposuction?
A. Pure Tumescent Liposuction costs vary from city to city, and from doctor to doctor. We usually structure pricing based on the size and number of areas to be treated. By using our Office Surgical Suite, we are able to cut the cost /Liposuction price quite considerably while performing this surgery in a safe and monitored environment. Liposuction Pricing starts at £2000 for one area but can run as high as £3500 or more if multiple areas are included. Each fee is quoted fairly during your consultation, and is representative of the size and difficulty of the area to be addressed. Cost of liposuction is very high in hospitals we offer cheap liposuction treatment at lesser price then any other hospital or clinic.

Advantages of Pure Tumescent Liposuction
1. Pure Tumescent liposuction is a dermatologic surgical procedure that can be done safely and less expensively in the office surgical suite.
2. The risks of general anaesthesia are eliminated with tumescent liposuction (e.g.: risks of endotracheal intubation, risks of significant blood loss, risks of hypoxemia (low blood oxygen), and risks of side effects from general anaesthesia).
3. Blood loss during surgery can be greatly reduced with tumescent liposuction. Usually, only 12cc of blood is lost for each litre of fat that is removed with tumescent liposuction. More blood than this (about 24cc) is required for a routine preoperative blood test!

4. Blood transfusions and intravenous fluid replacement are usually not necessary with tumescent liposuction.
5. Sensations felt during the suctioning portion of tumescent liposuction are usually minimal. Patients rarely have any discomfort during the surgery. However, some patients with a history of pain sensitivity may benefit from having some light sedation. Patients who have never had surgery may wish this option as well if large or many areas are planned for the liposuction.
6. Post-operative recovery is faster following tumescent liposuction as, opposed to traditional/standard liposuction. The post-operative recovery period at home is usually 1-2 days. Many patients desire to have their liposuction performed on Thursday or Friday to take advantage of the weekend (non-work days).
7. Post-operative discomfort is typically minimal. Significant numbing usually lasts for 18 hours in the suctioned areas. This is yet another major advantage that tumescent liposuction has over the other methods.
8. Patients usually dress without assistance following tumescent liposuction and may walk out without assistance. In comparison, patients are customarily very bruised, very sore, and may be incapacitated for weeks following standard liposuction under general anaesthesia.
9. Post-operative pain medicines are rarely needed with tumescent liposuction.
10. There is usually much less bruising and swelling with tumescent liposuction compared with standard liposuction under general anaesthesia.
11. Published medical studies confirm that the aesthetic results and safety of pure tumescent liposuction are superior compared to the "classical" liposuction performed in a hospital setting.
